Like many Seattle residents, I work and live in Seattle and rely on the public transportation system daily. As to my background, I am an alcohol facilities supervisor in the City of Seattle and I have assisted chronic public inebriates and at-risk youth for the past 17 years. I sit on the King County Mental Health Advisory Board and am a member of the Cascade Conservation Partnership and the Sierra Club. I am a licensed emergency medical technician in Washington State, and a Red Cross First Aid/CPR Instructor.
I am running for the Seattle Popular Monorail Board for the sole purpose of closing down the project and dissolving the agency. Although I was an early supporter of the monorail, I am neither an incumbent nor a cheerleader for the boondoggle that has emerged under the oversight of the Seattle Popular Monorail Board. Tens of millions of taxpayer dollars have been lavished upon consultants and project redesigns. Most of the 65 employees of the Seattle Monorail Project have been awarded salaries in excess of $75,000, and 22 employees earn more than $100,000 per year.
As your new board representative, I will work hard to implement managed closure of this $11 billion failure, before the project breaks ground. Our public transportation solutions require responsible stewardship, and promises that are kept, not broken.
We, the people of Seattle, never approved the Seattle Monorail Project as it exists today. We envisioned a viable transportation alternative, not extravagant spending. We must cut our losses and end this project in order to redirect our priorities toward clean, efficient transportation systems and improved government services. With your support, I will work to achieve these goals for our beautiful city. Thank you for your vote. I look forward to working hard to represent your voice, interests and concerns. |
2. Describe your most important personal characteristics or traits as they relate to the office you seek.
|
The ability to listen to people and mediate when problems arise. |
3. Please describe in sufficient detail, one to three accomplishments or contributions of which you are most proud. These examples should illustrate effective skills and capabilities you think apply to the office you are seeking. These accomplishments may have occurred at any time in your personal, professional, or public life.
4. Please list or describe your current and past activities in the community in which you have acquired skills that relate to the office you seek. Include your role in the activity and the year(s) in which you were involved. Involvement consists of many areas such as family, neighborhood, community, employment, or public life.

I was involved in the engineering contruction field for over 20 years and I have seen successful projects brought to fruition. All I can say is the SMP is an enourmous waste of taxpayers money.
I have studied successful Rapid Transit Systems that exist in places like Curitiba, Brazil. This system is clean, efficient and runs at a profit. We, the citizens of Seattle CAN implement a program just as effective.
I currently sit on the King County Mental Health Advisory Board and am fluent in the proper procedures for interacting with both public and private interests.
I also sit on an executive Board for a Washington State Environmenal Organization and have advocated for cleaner, more efficient forms of transportation.

FOR PUBLICATION IN CANDIDATE EVALUATION REPORT
The Municipal League’s Candidate Evaluation Report also includes a summary of each candidate’s civic involvement. Please summarize your civic involvement in the space below. We will make every attempt to include the information in the Candidate Evaluation Report as submitted. Due to space restrictions in the Report, your response is limited to 500 characters (letters, punctuation, and spaces all combined). It is important that you list your involvement beginning with the most important and ending with the least important. If you exceed the length of response permitted, or if the League should find it necessary to shorten responses for publication purposes, deletions will be made beginning with the last item listed.
Note: This information will appear verbatim on the League’s Candidate Evaluation Report. If this question is left blank, the Municipal League will not include information on your civic involvement in the Report.
Check here if you would like the Municipal League to copy the first 500 characters from Question 4 to paste into this section.
